Ciao is a word that expresses greeting or farewell in multiple languages. It is also a word I happen to use a lot...and it seemed appropriate, since I said goodbye to Ohio and hello to Ecuador.
79 is the line of longitude that crosses--and thus connects--both my northern hemisphere home in Ohio... and my southern hemisphere home in Ecuador.
This blog is a random assortment of stories, photos, observations, anecdotes and rants about my life and adventures as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador.

We LOVE care packages (hint)... ...But, we love care packages that do NOT get stuck in customs even more!!! (If customs gets their hot little hands on the package, it can delay its delivery by two months, AND cost us some hard earned dinero to get it out). SO, if you would like to send us some goodies (and we would love you for it) please follow the following guidelines: use a (small-ish) padded envelope and make sure it weighs LESS THAN 2 KILOGRAMS (that is 4.4 pounds, people!) and DO NOT declare a value. Please send your used books, trashy celebrity magazines, or other interesting gifts to: Casilla 16-01-710, Puyo - Pastaza, Ecuador Here´s a public shout-out of thanks to Stacey and Jane for the fabulous carepacks last week. GRACIAS!!!
